July 11, 1914 changed the face of baseball forever. A legend was born. A Hall of Fame career was kicked off.

George Herman Ruth, better known as the Babe, pitched in his first game as a member of the Red Sox. Ruth pitched seven innings allowing 2 earned runs on 8 hits and striking out one.

In honor of the Babe's debut, check out this vintage footage. It's pretty cool to see what the game looked like 100 years ago.
